This novel is based on the Bible's account of Adam, the first man who ever lived. It is written as an autobiography, as if written by Adam himself. Adam looks back at his life from his creation to old age, including his relationship with The Creator (God), naming the animals, the creation of Eve, his time with Eve in the Garden of Eden, their temptation and fall (sin) and expulsion from Eden, and then life after Eden (Cain and Abel, generations, the increase of wickedness) until shortly before his death.
