A compilation from the published writings of Mrs. White as found in her books, leaflets, and periodical articles covering a period of over fifty years.

The medical missionary work should be a part of the work of every church in our land (Counsels on Health, 514). By the ministry of the word, the gospel is preached; by medical missionary work, the gospel is practiced (Vol. 13 Manuscript Releases, 303). Physical healing is bound up with the gospel commission. In the work of the gospel, teaching and healing are never to be separated (Ministry of Healing, 140). We have come to a time when every member of the church needs to take hold of medical missionary work (Vol. 16 Manuscript Releases, p. 145). The gospel is bound up with medical missionary work. Neither is to stand alone (Vol. 13 Manuscript Releases 303). We should ever remember that the object of the medical missionary work is to point sin-sick men and women to the man of Calvary (Ministry of Healing, 144). He (Jesus) made each work of healing an occasion of implanting in the heart the divine principles of his love and benevolence. Thus, his followers are to work (Review and Herald, May 2, 1912).

The trustees are pleased to bring forth the second edition of Counsels on Health (now BIG Print (A4) original text edition without inclusive language), Issued first in 1923, this compilation of E. G. White writings on the subject of health proved to be an indispensable reference work, and the first edition in its several printings far exceeded expectations for its distribution. The text of the book is unchanged, and the original paging has been maintained. A new feature which will be much appreciated by the careful student is the inclusion of the date of writing or of first publication which appears in connection with source reference to each article.

Christ spent more time healing and ministering to the physical needs of suffering humanity than he did to preaching. He related to people in the areas of their felt need and after gaining their attention and indebtedness he ministered to their spiritual needs, encouraging them to “go and sin no more.” He was indeed the pattern Medical Missionary. Through His example in ministry He calls not only health professionals but every admirer of His to “come and follow Me.” This book helps us to see the natural laws of our bodies as the divine laws of a loving Creator. There is also much information on how to best minister to those who are suffering physically, mentally, and spiritually. There is good, practical advice on how to provide effective home health care which, in many instances, will diminish, the need for professional health care and fewer medications.
