This 174-page training manual is intended to provide information needed to meet South Carolina standards for certification as a commercial/noncommercial pesticide applicator in the turf and ornamental category. It is a supplement to Applying Pesticides Correctly (PTS Core), the manual that covers basic information for all commercial pesticide applicators. Specific pesticide names are omitted from this manual because label changes, regulatory actions and new product development make it impractical to include them. Topics include: Unit 1 Environmental Safety, Unit 2 Health Hazards, Unit 3 Turfgrass Pest Control, Unit 4 Ornamental Pest Control, Unit 5 Major Pests within South Carolina, Unit 6 Pesticide Classifications and Formulations, Unit 7 Application Equipment and Technology, Unit 8 Equipment Calibration, Unit 9 Interiorscape Pest Control, and Unit 10 Pest Control in Greenhouses. Each unit includes a list of important terms and a set of sample test questions.

This manual is part of Missouri's Pesticide Applicator Training Program. It prepares pesticide applicators for a Category 3, Ornamental and Turf Pest Control, certification test given by the Missouri Department of Agriculture.
