Day books kept by a Hartford, Connecticut, plumber while working for Mahl & Pinney, a plumbing firm, then Edward Mahl, a plumber and gas fitter, and then on his own once he earned his master plumber license in 1905. Entries include customer's name, street address, and usually a detailed list of parts and hours of work done. The earliest entries are in a hand very different than St. John's.
