There are moments in a day when I need a place to forget how to be. And to write myself out of me. Bereft is my first collection of stories and life bytes. Some borrowed from reality, others imagined. Some short, others shorter. These are not all love stories, but they are all stories about lovesome kind of love. Love that keeps us going. And sometimes pause. I dedicate this book to every heart that has loved or wished it had. Or hadnt.

A tiny seed of doubt precipitates a tragic act leading to the loss of all he holds dear. Overwhelmed by grief and depression, he fixates on an alcoholic teenager as the source of all his misery. Norm has nothing left to live for but his revenge-Warren Ward must pay with his life!

Antjie Krog’s iconic status as one of South Africa's most popular and critically-acclaimed poets began when she was eighteen, with her first collection, Dogter van Jefta (1970).
