A baby bear dreams of all the wonderful things he will be able to do when he is grown, from staying up late to building a house in a honey tree.

Small Bear, Big Dreams is a PreK-12 educational program teaches the values of respect for all people and acceptance of individual differences. The life of Matthew Shepard is chronicled in the storybook, Small Bear, Big Dreams. Within its pages, teddy bears celebrate Matthews life and aspirations as well as his struggles. A vision of hope and the celebration of diversity are central to this touching story. The educational program includes an activity guide, Teachers guide, activity book and an assortment of unique teddy bears that illustrate the value of diversity. A pro-active approach is taken in the lessons to teach compassion, acceptance and respect; as well as promote the promise that one person can make a difference. By providing resources and a framework, we will complement and strengthen the work already in progress in the campaign against hate, bullying, prejudice, hate language and intolerance.

Aunt Grace takes him to the aquarium and answers all his questions, while Uncle Roy shows him how to be a clown. And it's always a special day when Nana comes to visit. But while each day's activity and companion may be different, the routine at the end is always the same. Baby Bear is tucked into bed with a reading from a special book and always with a honey oatmeal raisin cookie. Having been involved in education for more than 30 years, Dr. Michael Shoulders travels extensively, visiting schools and speaking at conferences across the country. In addition to authoring the companion title, Say Daddy!, he has written several books for Sleeping Bear Press, including G is for Gladiator: An Ancient Rome Alphabet. Mike lives in Clarksville, Tennessee. A Rhode Island School of Design graduate, Teri Weidner has illustrated more than a dozen children's books. She works in watercolor, colored pencil, and a little of whatever else happens to be on her desk at the time. Teri lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
