(Con)textos femeninos: Antología de escritoras españolas, Tomo I: De Al-Ándalus hasta el siglo XVIII presenta poesía, drama y prosa de autoras de la Edad Media, el Renacimiento/Barroco y el siglo XVIII. Cada sección tiene introducciones sociohistóricas que esbozan el contexto histórico, el contexto social y el contexto de la mujer para situar la literatura. Se incluyen notas a pie de página en español para facilitar la comprensión de los textos. Al final de cada selección literaria aparece una corta biografía general de la escritora. La sección medieval tiene versiones árabes y hebreas de los escritos originalmente publicados en esas lenguas. Uno de los referentes del feminismo español reflexiona, desde una perspectiva de género, sobre su propia vida. Desde que empezó a publicar sus escritos en 1988, Laura Freixas se ha convertido en una de las voces más relevantes del feminismo español. En esta autobiografía, la autora nos abre las puertas, de manera íntima y desgarradora, a una de las etapas centrales de su vida: el matrimonio y la maternidad. Y no lo hace desde la suficiencia que puede dar el paso del tiempo, sino todo lo contrario: ahonda en su memoria de manera crítica y reflexiona sobre el rol femenino convencional que nunca quiso llevar. A mí no me iba a pasar es una reflexión sobre la vida privada y el feminismo, una muestra transparente y sincera de las contradicciones humanas.

La otra historia: Antología de autoras españolas is a literary anthology written entirely in Spanish and organized chronologically from Medieval times to the 21st century, beginning with the Jarchas and ending with Luisa Castro. The book features whole, uncut examples of poetry, drama, and narratives written by 25 Spanish women writers from all regions of Spain. Each chapter includes a brief introduction to the author and her work, a short bibliography for the author, the chosen piece of literature, and the glosses for that piece. Each entry is glossed in Spanish and English to help readers identify and clarify unfamiliar lexical, historical, and cultural terms. The book fills a gap in the literature, affording Spanish women writers their own space to share their words. In doing so, students are introduced to the beauty of the feminine voice in the literature of Spain. A unique and vital resource, La otra historia is an ideal textbook for upper-division undergraduate or graduate-level courses and programs in Spanish language and literature.

The passing of Spain's Law of Historical Memory (2007) marked the official recognition of the need to confront a violent and painful past. Article 2 makes reference to specific groups who experienced discrimination including religious and ethnic communities; no reference is made to the gender repression endured by women, enforced by a patriarchal regime through its legislation and policies, with the active support of the Church and the Women's Section of the Falange. Revised narratives of the period that have emerged in recent decades have raised issues in relation to the reliability and selectivity of memory, and its ongoing mediation by intervening events. While documentary sources of the period are prejudicial, cotemporaneous post-war testimonial novels provide an invaluable resource in reconstructing the past, particularly the novels of women writers. This book draws on their narrative to reconstruct the female experience of the post-war years and in particular on the writings of novelists whose work has undeservedly been disregarded. Neither the experience of women under Franco nor the narrative of women writers of the period should be forgotten.
