Advances In Intelligent Traffic And Transportation Systems

Intelligent traffic and transport systems combine the skills and management technologies of engineering, artificial intelligence, information technology and telecommunications to improve the efficiency of traffic and transport, benefitting the environment by reducing air and noise pollution and helping to create traffic free zones in cities. The management of public transport systems and vehicle fleets can also be improved by the provision of on-line information and better communication. This book presents the proceedings of ICITT2022, the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Traffic and Transportation, held in Paris, France from 25 – 27 September 2022. ICITT is a major annual event for the academics, researchers and industrialists engaged in intelligent traffic and transportation research, and is a friendly and inclusive platform that brings together a broad community of researchers sharing the common goal of developing and managing the engineering and technology key to sustaining the success of the intelligent traffic and transportation industries. The theme of the 2022 conference was Smart Digital Traffic and Transportation, and the book includes 15 papers, selected after a rigorous peer-review process. The papers are divided into 4 sections, which cover intelligent traffic and transportation; transportation in future smart cities; mobility and cyber-physical systems; and intelligent automation and ICT-enabled collaborative global systems. Covering a wide range of topics, the book will be of interest to all those working in the field of intelligent traffic and transportation.

With the advent and development of AI and other new technologies, traffic and transportation have changed enormously in recent years, and the need for more environmentally-friendly solutions is also driving innovation in these fields. This book presents the proceedings of ICITT 2023, the 7th International Conference on Intelligent Traffic and Transportation, held from 18-20 September 2023 in Madrid, Spain. This annual conference is becoming one of the leading international conferences for presenting novel and fundamental advances in the fields of intelligent traffic and transportation. The book gathers selected papers presented at the KES International Symposium on Smart Transportation Systems (KES-STS 2019). Modern transportation systems have undergone a rapid transformation in recent years. This has produced a range of vehicle technology innovations such as connected vehicles, self-driving cars, electric vehicles, Hyperloop, and even flying cars, and with them, fundamental changes in transport systems around the world. The book discusses current challenges, innovations and breakthroughs in Smart Transportation Systems, as well as transport infrastructure modeling, safety analysis, freeway operations, intersection analysis, and other related cutting-edge topics.

This volume includes the proceedings of the 2015 International Conference on Information Technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITITS 2015) which was held in Xi’an on December 12-13, 2015. The conference provided a platform for all professionals and researchers from industry and academia to present and discuss recent advances in the field of Information Technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems. The presented information technologies are connected to intelligent transportation systems including wireless communication, computational technologies, floating car data/floating cellular data, sensing technologies, and video vehicle detection. The articles focusing on intelligent transport systems vary in the technologies applied, from basic management systems to more application systems including topics such as emergency vehicle notification systems, automatic road enforcement, collision avoidance systems and some cooperative systems. The conference hosted 12 invited speakers and over 200 participants. Each paper was under double peer reviewed by at least 3 reviewers. Over the last few years, the local value of mobility and information in our society has grown tremendously. As the importance of Information and Communication Te- nologies (ICT) increases, we expect more changes in future mobility behavior. This includes not only mobility behavior for the single user, but also for the transportation of goods and infrastructure operators. It will also affect the regulation of resources and political decision-making. Both, data and mobility become more connected. To cope effectively with the anticipated changes, we must expand our focus and take current developments in both areas into account. The topic of the Lakeside Conference 2010, Data and Mobility – Transforming Information into Intelligent Traffic and Transportation Services, was chosen to underline the importance of information and mobility in transport and to offer an opportunity to discuss and question current activities in this sector. We will consider intermodal concepts and deployments in particular, where data transfer plays a major role, as this could help to reduce the current lack of infrastructure capacity (especially on roads and at airports and seaports). Using modern technologies, traffic mana- ment could become more sustainable and efficient. The Lakeside Conference is, again, organized by a consortium composed of the Lakeside Technology Park, the Austrian Transport Telematic Cluster, AustriaTech and the American Embassy in Austria.
