Analytical chemistry is the branch of chemistry which separates, identifies and measures matter. The methods used in analytical chemistry can be classified into classical methods, wet chemical methods and instrumental methods. It can be applied in a number of fields such as medicine, forensic science, environmental science, etc. This book contains some path-breaking studies in the field of analytical chemistry. A number of latest researches have been included to keep the readers up-to-date with the global concepts in this area of study. This book is an essential guide for both academicians and those who wish to pursue this discipline further.

Excerpt from Tables for Qualitative Chemical Analysis In adapting an elementary course of chemical analysis to this purpose the accompanying tables seemed peculiarly suited. Whilst compact, they are sufficiently explicit, and the summary view of the general course of qualitative analysis, and of the classification of compounds according to the properties relied upon for their detection, affords a thread, as it were, around which chemical facts may crystallize as they accumulate. For details of properties, &c., in addition to instruction in the laboratory, the student is constantly referred to some one of the manuals of analytical chemistry placed in the laboratory for this purpose. Chemistry: Inorganic Qualitative Analysis in the Laboratory is a textbook dealing with qualitative analysis in the laboratory, as well as with the process of anion and cation analysis. The book presents an overview of the subject of inorganic qualitative analysis, including as the equipment, reagents, and procedures that are going to be used in the laboratory. Preliminary experiments include the classification of precipitates, handling precipitates, separation techniques, flame tests, Brown ring test, solvent extraction. The text also describes in detail how to prepare the experiment for anion and cation analysis such as testing for water solubility in a solid sample or the sodium carbonate treatment of a water-soluble sample. The book also explains the qualitative analysis for anions in preliminary and specific tests. In the qualitative analysis for cations, the student follows different procedures for Cation Groups I, II, III, IV or V. For example, the ions of Cation Group V cannot be precipitated by any Cation Groups I-IV reagents, nor by any single group reagent. The textbook is suitable for both chemistry teachers and freshmen students.

Excerpt from Elements of Qualitative and Quantitative Chemical Analysis An examination of this Table Shows at once that all normal nitrates and acetates, and all the salts of the alkaline metals (potassium, sodium) are soluble. Other similar general conclu sions can 'be deduced by the student himself, which, once familiarly learned, will be very useful in working out equations.
