A Critical Analysis Of The National Education Policy 2020 In India Perspectives From Phd Scholars

Abstract: This study explores the perspectives of PhD scholars in India regarding the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 40 scholars from diverse academic disciplines to assess their awareness, perceived opportunities, challenges, and expectations concerning NEP 2020. The results indicate a significant gender disparity in awareness levels, with 35% of male participants reporting high awareness compared to 25% of females, while 40% of female scholars expressed a lack of awareness. Participants identified opportunities such as the promotion of research culture and interdisciplinary studies, but also highlighted challenges including lack of implementation strategies and inadequate research infrastructure. The study found that NEP 2020 is anticipated to positively impact research culture, inter-institutional collaborations, and research output, though concerns about inclusiveness and accessibility remain, particularly regarding gender equality. Recommendations for effective implementation include strengthening policy monitoring, enhancing faculty development programs, and bridging the gap between policy and practice. The insights from this study contribute to the existing literature and provide valuable guidance for policymakers to support the successful realization of NEP 2020's objectives, ultimately enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education in India.

This study was conducted by the EdTech Research Association, Arizona (US) and co-author Kavita Roy, investigates the awareness, understanding, and perceptions of students at different academic levels regarding the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in India. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research unveils nuanced insights into participants' comprehension of NEP 2020's key components and objectives. The findings highlight diverse perceptions, with K12 students displaying a varied understanding of major changes, while undergraduate students exhibit a clearer grasp of the multidisciplinary approach but struggle with specifics like academic credit transfer. Postgraduate students demonstrate heightened awareness of research-related reforms, while PhD scholars exhibit comprehensive knowledge of NEP 2020's key features. The study underscores the need for targeted communication strategies to bridge knowledge gaps and ensure the effective implementation of NEP 2020, offering valuable insights for future educational reforms.

India's National Education Policy 2020 is essentially an all-encompassing framework to manage the improvement of the national academic curriculum. This programme covers the complete educational system of this country, from primary schooling to universities in both rural and urban India. Education is crucial for fostering individual growth, creating a more fair and equitable community, and advancing national progress. India's continuous rise and worldwide leadership in areas such as economic development, social fairness and equality, scientific progress, national integration, and cultural preservation hinge on the country's ability to ensure that all of its citizens have access to a high-quality education. For the sake of the person, the community, the nation, and the globe, our country's great skills and resources should be developed and maximised via universal high-quality education. During the next decade, India will have the world's largest youth population, and the success of our nation will depend on whether or not we can provide them access to good schools. In addition to providing an overview of India's National Education Policy 2020, this book also provides a short explanation of that policy from 1986 and discusses such topics as value education and the importance of understanding one's own and society's values. The 2020 New Education Policy and the NPE of 1986 are both discussed in the book, along with similarities between the two. It introduces several reforms and innovative approaches to enhance the quality and inclusivity of education. This research article explores the awareness of students in India regarding the NEP 2020. This research article investigates the awareness of students in India belonging to four different educational levels, namely K-12, undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. scholars, regarding the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP).

How do the benefits of higher education compare with its costs, and how does this comparison vary across individuals and institutions? These questions are fundamental to quantifying the productivity of the education sector. The studies in Productivity in Higher Education use rich and novel administrative data, modern econometric methods, and careful institutional analysis to explore productivity issues. The authors examine the returns to undergraduate education, differences in costs by major, the productivity of for-profit schools, the productivity of various types of faculty and of outcomes, the effects of online education on the higher education market, and the ways in which the productivity of different institutions responds to market forces. The analyses recognize five key challenges to assessing productivity in higher education: the potential for multiple student outcomes in terms of skills, earnings, invention, and employment; the fact that colleges and universities are “multiproduct” firms that conduct varied activities across many domains; the fact that students select which school to attend based in part on their aptitude; the difficulty of attributing outcomes to individual institutions when students attend more than one; and the possibility that some of the benefits of higher education may arise from the system as a whole rather than from a single institution. The findings and the approaches illustrated can facilitate decision-making processes in higher education.

The NEP, 2020 places a special focus on the individual's ability to develop their creative potential. The new education policy has brought with it a great deal of clarity on the expectations that should be placed on schooling. It declares that "education is important for reaching full human potential, building an equitable and to just society, and promoting national development." Education is necessary for achieving full human potential, developing an equitable and fair society, and promoting national development. The strategy requires an ambitious implementation plan that places an emphasis not only on universal human values but also on human culture and ethos. One of the most well-established examples of human culture and ethos is Indian culture and ethos. Learners are given the ability to recognize acceptable behaviors in an innate manner so that they may do excellent work for the benefit of others via the use of this book. Since they take precedence over everything else in a person's life, values are irreplaceable; they provide a person's character both purpose and resilience. One may readily introspect and evaluate the inculcation of values via behaviors since values are openly expressed in behaviors. There are many different values, and they can be categorized depending on their level of significance. In this world of confusion and chaos, which is further enhanced by injustice, values are the only thing that have the ability to channelize in the appropriate direction.
